Wightman leads Lady Blues past Lake Forest; surpasses career milestone

Ashlyn Wightman played a pivotal role in the Lady Blues' victory over Lake Forest, scoring 18 points in their 74-55 win on Saturday at Sherman Gymnasium. This victory improves the Lady Blues' record to 6-11 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Foresters' record drops to 2-13 overall and 1-6 in conference.

During the game, the Lady Blues executed an impressive 11-0 run spanning the end of the first half and start of the third quarter, securing a ten-point lead they maintained throughout. The team limited Lake Forest to just 29% shooting from the field while achieving a shooting percentage of 42%.

Wightman achieved another double-double with her performance, contributing 18 points and collecting ten rebounds. Jayln Patterson was also instrumental for Illinois College, adding 22 points and nine rebounds. Raegen Stringer supported with six assists.

"Ashlyn Wightman has become the 15th Lady Blue to surpass 1,000 career points," marking her as "the first player to reach this milestone since 2019." She ranks prominently in several categories: fifth all-time in rebounds, first in both total blocks and blocks per game, and ninth all-time in rebounds per game.

The Lady Blues will now enter their bye week before returning to face Beloit on Alumni Day at Sherman Gymnasium on Saturday, January 25th at 1:00 PM.
