The Illinois College Lady Blues secured a notable victory against Lawrence University, ranked second in the conference, with a final score of 72-67. The game took place at Sherman Gymnasium on Saturday, marking Senior Day for Anna McKee.
This win brings the Lady Blues to an overall record of 9-13 and a conference record of 6-7. Meanwhile, Lawrence University now stands at 16-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play.
In the first quarter, the Lady Blues established an early lead, ending nine points ahead. However, Lawrence responded strongly in the second quarter with a shooting percentage of 50%, taking a narrow halftime lead of 42-40.
Both teams faced offensive challenges during the third quarter, but Lawrence maintained their five-point advantage going into the fourth period. In response, Illinois College dominated the final quarter with a shooting accuracy of 57% from the field. Kallie Oestreicher was instrumental in this comeback, scoring 14 points in the last quarter alone. The Lady Blues ended with a three-point shooting percentage of 40.9%, making nine out of their twenty-two attempts.
Anna McKee celebrated her senior day by contributing 14 points and hitting two out of five three-point shots. Jayln Patterson added another 13 points to the team's total while also securing nine rebounds. Kaity Robison scored ten points and made both her three-point attempts successfully. Shaili Betts contributed defensively with nine rebounds and three steals.
Looking ahead, Illinois College is set to face Grinnell College on Tuesday, February 11th at Sherman Gymnasium.
