I’m taking the initiative to further understand businesses in the 95th District. The mission of “Mike on Main Street” business tours is to hear directly from business owners and workers so I can better serve their needs to improve the business climate in Illinois.

BRANDT Global Headquarters is based in Springfield, Illinois. The company traces its origins back to 1953 with founders Glen Brandt and Evelyn Brandt Thomas. Innovation, honesty, and customer service have been key principles since its inception. LOCAL farmers, originally from Pleasant Plains, Illinois, were initially supported by BRANDT in their farming endeavors. These principles continue to guide the company's expansion strategies today. BRANDT's products reach 48 states and over 45 countries, a testament to their growth and distribution capabilities.

"I had the pleasure to meet with Evelyn Brandt and Rod Riech today to discuss the operations within BRANDT, the history of how the family-owned business expanded nationwide, and some of the challenges they are faced with," said a participant in the tour. Challenges discussed include regulations on pesticides and the desire for a more business-friendly climate in Illinois. Concerns about rising property taxes, regulations, and opportunities for expansion are common among business owners in the region. "Illinois must do better to help businesses remain open and offer tax relief they deserve," the participant added.

For more details on BRANDT, individuals are encouraged to visit the company's website.

The "Mike on Main Street" campaign also visited O'Shea Builders, where discussions with Mike O'Shea provided insights into public policy impacts on business operations.
