The Illinois College Lady Blues softball team had a mixed performance in their doubleheader against Grinnell on Senior Day at Jessica Kamp Field. The Lady Blues secured a victory in the first game with a score of 4-0, but fell to the Pioneers 6-4 in the second.

Following the games, the Lady Blues hold an overall record of 22-16 and 11-3 in Midwest Conference play. Grinnell now stands at 11-25 overall and 8-6 in the conference.

In the first game, pitcher Jordan Closs threw a seven-hit shutout with eight strikeouts, extending her scoreless inning streak to 42. The Lady Blues got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Taylor Henry's sacrifice fly brought home Brooke Loveall after her triple. Loveall tripled again in the third, and Henry doubled to push the run. Kayla Serpa added to the score in the fifth inning and Allison Fraley stole home in the sixth for the final run.

During the second game, Grinnell took an early lead with six runs in the third inning and managed to resist IC's comeback efforts. Shelby Seiler contributed with three RBIs, including a two-run single in the fourth inning. Despite Taylor Henry's RBI single in the seventh inning, the Lady Blues couldn't close the gap.

Avery Fritz managed to allow just one run on four hits over her 4 2/3 innings of relief work.

Illinois College has won nine of its last ten games leading up to the season's conclusion. They are scheduled to finish their regular season with a postponed doubleheader against Knox on Friday. Originally planned for last Tuesday, the games were delayed due to weather and are set to resume at 3:00 p.m.
