State Senator Sally Turner (R-Beason) has recognized Ralph Allen, an Agricultural Science teacher and FFA advisor at Mt. Pulaski High School, with the 2025 Outstanding Teacher of the 44th District Award.

Allen was nominated by community member Clay Aylesworth, who commended Allen's commitment to his students and the FFA program. “Mr. Allen is a great teacher and even a better person. His students are always prepared and placing in the very top of the contests at Section, District, and State level,” Aylesworth stated.

Senator Turner highlighted Allen’s long-term dedication to education. “Mr. Allen has poured his heart into his students for decades,” said Senator Sally Turner. “Whether in the classroom or leading his FFA team, he constantly goes above and beyond to make sure they are prepared to succeed. His impact has shaped the lives of countless young people in our community.”

Allen’s recognition follows his receipt of the 2025 Golden Owl Award, which honors outstanding agricultural educators across Illinois. Throughout most of his career, Allen has worked at Mt. Pulaski CUSD 23, with brief teaching periods at Lincoln Land Community College and Williamsville High School. He is known for guiding students to repeated success in FFA competitions and promoting a strong work ethic.

“Mr. Allen represents the very best of what it means to be an educator,” continued Senator Sally Turner. “His commitment to his students, his school, and his community is remarkable. I’m proud to honor him with this award.”

In addition to teaching, Allen farms, raises cattle, and serves as a part-time minister. He will retire after the 2025–2026 school year.

The Outstanding Teacher Award is presented annually by Senator Turner to a teacher living or working in Illinois’ 44th Senate District based on nominations from local residents.
