The Illinois College Esports team lost a close NECC Valorant match to Morningside, with the series ending 1–2. The contest, held in Jacksonville, Illinois, featured three maps.

Illinois College took the first map, Ascent, with a 13–11 win. The team displayed disciplined site holds and managed key late rounds to secure the victory. On the second map, Lotus, Morningside shifted momentum and won decisively with a score of 13–6.

The deciding third map was played on Haven. Despite efforts from Illinois College, Morningside’s mid-round strategies proved effective and led to a 13–8 result in their favor.

The match had additional significance as Morningside is both an NECC and MVEC opponent, impacting conference standings for Illinois College. Fray Moulton and Dwight Duijneveld delivered strong performances during the series but overall consistency eluded the Blueboys.

In individual statistics from the match: Carter Naeve recorded 22 kills and six plants; Ekko Nguyen contributed 25 kills and ten first deaths; Jonest Eisfelder posted 45 kills and eight plants; Fray Moulton led with 53 kills; Dwight Duijneveld matched his number of kills and deaths at 48 each.

Illinois College’s next NECC Valorant fixture is scheduled for Monday, September 29th against Illinois State University at 8:00 p.m.
