State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) will host a free Senior Fair in Highland to connect senior citizens with local and state agencies that provide support and benefits. The event will take place at the Highland VFW on Tuesday, October 7, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, located at 1900 VFW Road, Highland, IL.
A local health agency will offer flu vaccines during the fair. Representative Meier said, “I encourage senior citizens and their families to attend my free Senior Fair. This fair has such a great lineup of vendors. It’s a unique opportunity to have so many organizations who offer support to seniors in one place.”
The fair will feature participation from organizations including AARP Illinois, AT&T, Bond County Health Department, City of Highland Parks and Recreation, Comforting Transitions, Devoted Health Plans, Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois, Farm Family Resource Initiative – Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Center for Rural Health and Social Service Development (CRHSSD), Help at Home, Highland Meals on Wheels, Honor Flight of Southern IL, Hospice of Southern Illinois, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland, Illinois Department on Aging, Illinois Department of Insurance, Illinois Secretary of State, Madison County Community Development, Medicare Insurance Options LLC, Medicare Insurance Techs, Programs and Services for Older Persons – SWIC, Senior Services Plus Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, Southwestern Illinois Visiting Nurse Association, St. John’s Community Care, The Colonnade Senior Living, The Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois and Washington County Services INC.
Meier was elected as a Republican representative for the state's 109th House District in 2023 after replacing David Reis.
