The Illinois College women's volleyball team began their participation in the UW-Whitewater Invitational with a 3–1 loss to Rose-Hulman on Friday night in Whitewater, Wisconsin. With this result, the Lady Blues now hold a 4-9 record for the season, while Rose-Hulman improves to 11-4.
Illinois College lost the first two sets by scores of 22–25 and 20–25. They responded with a win in the third set, taking it 25–20. However, Rose-Hulman secured victory by winning a close fourth set, 25–23.
The Lady Blues recorded 53 kills and achieved a .286 hitting percentage during the match. Delani Klaas led with 11 kills, followed by Riley Drake who contributed 10 kills and 17 digs. Laura Kaiser added nine kills and five blocks.
Defensively, Illinois College tallied 56 digs and made 12 blocks, with Kaiser and Elliana Huckstep leading efforts at the net. Setters Summer Brandis and Liv Cox combined for a total of 37 assists, while Reagan Oster provided an additional 11 digs.
Looking ahead, Illinois College is scheduled to play against nationally ranked No. 4 UW-Whitewater at 11:00 a.m., followed by a match against UW-River Falls at 1:00 p.m. on the final day of the invitational.
