The Illinois College men's tennis team secured a 7-0 win against Concordia Chicago on Saturday at the Bellatti Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Illinois. This victory brings Illinois College's record to 4-1 for the season, while Concordia Chicago falls to 0-3.
Illinois College swept all doubles matches to gain an early lead. The pair of Jeff Wernsing and Adi Basic won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Glenn Conway and Andrus Dupre recorded a 6-0 victory at No. 2, and Tejas Zala with Grayson Dupre completed the sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Illinois College continued its dominance by winning five out of six matches in straight sets. Jeff Wernsing (No. 1) and Adi Basic (No. 3) each earned victories with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Tejas Zala (No. 2) won his match 6-0, 6-1, while Andrus Dupre (No. 5) finished with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Ryne Breyer secured a win at No. 6 singles with scores of 6-3, 6-4.
Glenn Conway closed out the day for the Blueboys by winning his match at No. 4 singles in three sets: "Conway closed out the shutout with a 6-2, 2-6, 10-3 win at No. 4."
The team will take a break before returning for the spring portion of their season on February 24th when they face Principia.
