The Illinois College men's soccer team was defeated by Lake Forest College 4-3 on Saturday at Farwell Field. Illinois College trailed by four goals before staging a late comeback that ultimately fell short.
Lake Forest took an early lead with two goals in the first half, scoring in the 27th and 31st minutes. The Foresters extended their advantage to 4-0 with additional goals in the 60th and 62nd minutes.
Illinois College responded when Carter Uhlmann scored on a penalty kick at the 64:06 mark. Daniel Garcia reduced the deficit further with a goal at 80:13. Jason Hernandez added another goal for Illinois College with less than thirty seconds remaining, but it was not enough to tie the match.
Illinois College outshot Lake Forest, recording ten shots compared to six from the Foresters. Trevor Fallico, J'aiden Cranwell-Meneses, and Jason Hernandez each had two shots for Illinois College. TJ Esseily made one save as goalkeeper.
Following this result, Illinois College holds a record of 6-3-2 overall and is now 1-2-0 in conference play. Lake Forest remains unbeaten at 11-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference matches.
Illinois College has posted a record of 5-2-1 over its last eight games and is now 13-4-2 in Midwest Conference play across the past three seasons.
The Blueboys will return home for a two-match homestand starting Tuesday against Beloit at England Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
