Illinois College women's tennis loses duals against Cornell and Grinnell

The Illinois College women's tennis team lost two Midwest Conference matches on Saturday at the Bellatti Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Illinois. The Lady Blues were defeated by Cornell 7-0 in the morning match and fell to Grinnell 7-0 in the afternoon.

Following these results, the Lady Blues' overall record stands at 9-7, with a conference record of 1-3.

Against Cornell, Illinois College was unable to secure any wins in doubles or singles play. The closest doubles contest came at No. 2, where Sophie Muir and Lily Ingram lost a close tiebreaker 7-6 (4-0). In singles competition, four of the six matches went to tiebreakers, including those played by Alyssa Wise (No. 1), Clara Bach (No. 2), Morgan Keefe (No. 5), and Sabrina Ingram (No. 6).

In their second match against Grinnell, Illinois College again dropped all three doubles contests as Grinnell took an early lead. The Pioneers won five of six singles matches in straight sets; Lily Ingram was edged out in a tiebreaker at No. 4 singles.

The Lady Blues will finish their regular season with a Midwest Conference road trip next weekend, facing Lawrence on Saturday morning before playing Ripon later that day.
