The Illinois College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Cornell in a Midwest Conference match held Saturday evening at England Stadium in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Illinois College (IC) now has an overall record of 6-3-4 and stands at 1-2-2 in conference play. Cornell’s record moves to 4-7-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the conference.
The Blueboys opened the scoring early, with Tyler Lunning netting his third goal of the week less than nine minutes into the game. Cornell equalized just past the half-hour mark. Both teams entered halftime tied at one goal apiece.
In the second half, both teams had opportunities but neither managed to score again. IC registered a total of 13 shots compared to Cornell's 11.
Jacob Pelletier led Illinois College with three shots. Teammates Oscar Liogon Arenas, Jason Hernandez, and Elijah Bunda each contributed two shots. Goalkeeper Daniel Happach played the entire match for IC and made five saves.
Illinois College has compiled a 5-2-3 record over its last eight matches and is now 13-4-4 in Midwest Conference play across the past three seasons.
The Blueboys are scheduled to play their next conference match on Wednesday at Monmouth, with kick-off set for 3:00 p.m.
