Illinois College esports reports victories in Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The Illinois College esports program completed a week of competition, participating in matches across several games. The team achieved a sweep in Rocket League, a strong performance in Valorant, and a close win in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

In Valorant, Illinois College started the week with a 2–0 victory over Wisconsin–Eau Claire in NECC play. The team won 13–10 on Ascent and 14–12 on Lotus. Dwight Duijneveld led with 62 kills, while Fray Moulton added 43 kills and a 2.33 KDA. Jonest Eisfelder and Ekko Nguyen contributed important rounds to secure both maps. Later in the week, Illinois College lost 0–2 to Coe College, despite Duijneveld’s 34 kills and a 1.39 KDA.

The Rocket League team recorded a 4–0 sweep against Wisconsin–Stevens Point on October 8 in NECC play. Glenn Conway scored eight goals, Lucas Barry had five, and Duijneveld added four goals. In their next match, Illinois College lost 1–4 to Jamestown in MVEC play. Barry led with four goals and three assists, while Conway and Duijneveld supported both offense and defense.

Illinois College also competed in Overwatch, losing 0–3 to North Dakota State University. The team was defeated on Ilios (1–2), King's Row (0–1), and Rialto (0–1).

The week ended with a 2–1 win over Illinois State University in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. After splitting the first two games, Julian Luaders secured eight stocks in Game 3 to force a final match, where Jake Petrovich clinched the win for Illinois College.
