Springfield Park District to consider appointment of trustee

The Springfield, Illinois Park District Board of Trustees will be holding a special executive session tomorrow, March 2, beginning at 5:15 p.m. at the John F. Linxwiler Administrative Center located on 1500 South 11th St. in Springfield, Illinois.

The board will be discussing the appointment of a trustee member and it is possible that an appointment could be made at the meeting.

Under the Illinois Open Meetings Act, executive sessions are allowed to be private and not reported to members of the public for specific reasons. These include matters of staffing such as the discipline of an employee, hiring and appointment of additional staff or members.

The Springfield Park District is managed by one elected president and six trustee members that are elected. Each role serves terms that four years in length

 

The Springfield Park District manages recreation and education programs in multiple areas that include cycling, hiking, visits to the Washington Park Botanical Garden alongside several athletic activities and it also provides partnership support for sports leagues in the area. There are approximately 60 square miles of park space in the city.
