The Springfield, Illinois Office of Public Works announced this week that lanes of traffic on MacArthur Boulevard at Jefferson Street will be limited to one lane to accommodate repairs starting today.
The department notes that repairs are expected to take one week to complete, assuming that the weather allows work to continue as planned. Alongside the lane limitations, the Department of Public Works also states that the westbound left turning lane will be closed in order to complete repairs. The one lane limitation is only placed on northbound traffic. It was not indicated in the announcement what kind of repairs would be carried out over the course of this modification.
The department also asks motorists to utilize alternative routes during busy times of the day if possible, Both motorists and pedestrians are urged to take precaution when in the area and to be aware of equipment entering and leaving the work area.
A similar closure took place beginning on Feb. 25 on the 300 north block of Bruns Lane in order to repair a manhole. The usable lanes were reduced to one for both north and southbound travelers. This repair work was also estimated to have lasted for one week.
