The Collective Bargaining Committee of the Sangamon, Illinois County Board discussed contract negotiations during a recent closed session.
During the session, contract negotiation updates would be discussed with regard to county employees. Raylene DeWitte Grischow, a lawyer with Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, Bruce Stratton and Justin Reichert, both lawyers with the Stratton, Moran, Sronce, Reichert & Nardulli law firm, were noted as present during this portion of the meeting.
State law allows meetings not open to the public when private or sensitive matter are discussed. This can include employment issues that can focus on hiring decisions, appointments, contract negotiations and disciplinary action. Closed meetings may also be held when a governmental body is discussing potential litigation or purchases of real estate.
This Collective Bargaining committee is tasked with the negotiation of all agreements with labor unions in relation to county employees. Typically, this committee meets a day prior to the full county board meeting. The meeting date for the April county board was changed to meet a week earlier, on April 5. The committee will keep its original April meeting date of April 11.
This meeting also facilitated the review and approval of meeting minutes from the committee’s previous meeting on Feb. 8.
