The West Sangamon Public Library District Board of Trustees met Nov. 8 to plan a bake sale.

MINUTES

The November 8, 2016, meeting of the West Sangamon Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by President Barth. Roll call was taken with four trustees in attendance, three trustees absent, and Library Director Benanti absent.

Guest ReJeana Meado was introduced. She was representing the New Berlin Area Community Development League (NBACDL) and presented an update on the Community Welcome Directory and the Little Library. The NBACDL has acquired and updated two newspaper distribution machines to serve as little libraries. One will be located in the Windrow Subdivision and one in the Berlin Park. The library will maintain the items in the little libraries and they will not be registered on the national registry.

Minutes of Previous Meeting:

The September 6, 2016, minutes were not available. Approval of those minutes was postponed until the next meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:

The treasurer’s report was distributed and read. There are $7,506.42 in the checking account and $104,791.11 in the money market. Copies of the report will be available at the next meeting. Martha Darling made a motion that the report be approved and Chris Byer seconded. The report was approved by a roll call vote.

President’s Report:

The general meeting was adjourned into executive session at 7:19 to discuss salary. The general meeting was reconvened at 7:32.

A collection was taken in memory of Director Benanti’s mother, Edna May Freeman.

Chris Byer was thanked for attending the Village Board Meeting in September to answer all their questions about the ADA doors.

Director’s Report:

The Village Board approved the project to proceed with TIF funds. At this time the concrete ramp, parking lot, new handrails, and the automatic doors are completed.

The library’s copier needs to be replaced. The Friends of the Library have been asked to assist with this purchase.

The Director’s desk computer’s hard-drive is no longer under warranty. It was recently repaired for $63.00.

Information is being sought from the Illinois State Library Records Archivist to ascertain how long we need to store records.

The Friends will hold a Book and Bake sale on November 18-19.

Committee Reports:

There were no committee reports.

Friends of the Library:

The Friends of the Library has given $1,500.00 toward a new copier.

Old Business:

The Trustees were reminded of Bobette Gerlach’s donation to the library.

New Business:

There was no new business.

At 7:57 p.m. June Atkinson motioned to adjourn and Martha Darling seconded.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
