Athens Municipal Library Board of Trustees met October 10.

Public presentations

Special Collection Room- The computer has been hooked up again in the room.

Friends of AML- They had a meeting on Oct. 2,2017. An open house for the library was set for Sunday, November 4, 2017 from 1-4 p.m.

The float was in the Greenview and Athens parades. Good comments were made about how nice the float was.

Approval of Minutes

Jennifer Bessert made a motion to approve the minutes and Vicki Thompson seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

Treasurer’s Report

Holly Henning-Buhr made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report and it was second by Vicki Thompson. The motion was approved unanimously in a roll call vote.

President’s report

It was discussed about putting the tv up on the wall (wall mount). We will put it on the agenda for next month.

Director’s Report

Donna stated that a shelf was damaged by the movers during the installation of new caret.

Donna will stay in contact with them in order to get the shelf fixed or replace.

a. Halloween – The city of Athens will donate money in order for us to buy treats to hand out the night of Halloween (Oct. 31,2017) The hours are 5-8p.m.

Unfinished Business

     a.Property boundaries- The lots were surveyed and 2 lots are there and for sale.

New Business.

     a.Tax levy- Motion was made by Kappi Marcus and seconded by Jennifer Bessert to approve the levy for the Athens Municipal Library.

     b.Outside landscaping- Maggie talked to Tom Loehr about cutting bushes and new rock around the building. Also, putting in weed barrier and pavers around building. Holly Henning-Buhr made and second by Jennifer Bessert to hire Tom Loehr to do the landscaping. The motion was approved unanimously in a roll call vote.

     c.Festival of Trees- The set up date for Festival of Trees in Nov4-5, 2017 from 9-4(Sat.) and 12-4 (Sunday) October 25 to find things and get ideas for the tree’s decorations.

     d.Chair rail for meeting room- Maggie had person come to look at putting in a chair rail around the room. The chairs are marking the newly painted walls.

     e.Per- Capita Grant – Trustees Duties and Responsibilities- chapter 1 was passed out

     f.TV cart-mount proposed for November

     g.Christmas party
