Village of Dawson Board of Trustees met October 12. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Dawson Village Board Was Called to order by Mayor Dee Smith at 7:00 pm., and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


Roll Call: Trustees present were Theresa J. Davis-Anderson, Jeremy Bounds, Robin Ashton-Hale, Josh Nibbe, Nancy Prytherch. Also present were Mayor Dee Smith, Clerk Jo D. Prytherch, Treasurer Shelly Farley, and Engineer Kevin Kuhn.

Minutes: Robin Ashton-Hale made a motion to approve the minutes, with a second by Nancy Prytherch. MC

Bills: Robin Ashton-Hale made a motion to approve the bills, with a second by Josh Nibbe. MC

Treasurer’s Report: Shelly Farley went over General, Profit and Loss, as well as the Balance Sheet.

Public Forum: Discussed setting a date for volunteers for Landscaping around our Storage Building and the materials needed.

New Business: Concrete Repair at the Park was approved for up to $500 by Robin Ashton-Hale and second by Theresa J. Davis Anderson. Sealed Bids for Cottonwood tree at the park were presented and won by Bobby Kresse for $1600, followed by Shane Duncan and Jeff Leka motion to approve bid by Robin Ashton-Hale second by Nancy Prytherch MC. Landscaping Materials for $200 was approved by Robin Ashton-Hale and second by Nancy Prytherch. Amending Village Ordinance 3-1-10, raising chickens with guidelines was presented and put on hold until further information on guidelines can be discussed. EJ Water is being rescheduled for a meeting when a representative and all board members can be present. Fire Dept. Renovation was approved for $4,000 to be finished by beginning week of December.

Engineers Report: Kevin Kuhn made some positive and negative views on EJ Water.

Old Business: Nothing to Report.

Trustee’s Report: Theresa J. Davis-Anderson reported the Time Capsule of 25 years was found which has been a town/church tradition for 50 years, and since we no longer have the church that was present at the last burial of the time capsule, would we want to continue the tradition at a different area and time? Robin Ashton-Hale reported there has been some complaints about the softness of our water.

Attorney’s Report: Not present.

Mayor’s Report: IL. Rural Water Works had put an add in their newspaper for free and we have received 1 phone call as for the details. Our Pneumatic Boring Tool had malfunction and fell apart on our last usage of a water main break, discussed that it was not worth replacing it at this time. Complaint about a resident walking around town and bumming gas money, they were asked not to be doing this.
