Illinois native and former Sangamon County business owner Mike Murphy is gearing up for the November general election where he will face off against Democrat Marc Bell for the 99th Illinois House District seat.
In a video posted on Facebook, Murphy addressed voters on some of the state's hot-button issues and promised true accessibility, even giving out his cellphone number to the public.
"I will be accessible," Murphy said in the video. "I am here to serve you. If there is something that I am not doing or something that I can do for you as your representative, I want to hear about it."

Murphy, who has pledged to refuse a legislative pension if elected, has also focused much of his campaign on fighting tax increases.
"I will fight tax increases," Murphy said in the video. "Illinois needs to implement policies that will attract families and businesses that are currently choosing to move to other states."
Murphy is the former owner of Charlie Parker's Diner in Springfield, and has served on local school and community boards including six years on the Sangamon County Citizens' Efficiency Commission.
