City of Petersburg Council met March 6.
Here is the agenda provided by the Council:
I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m.
II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS
A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Nathan Grosboll, Rick Sonnemaker, and Keith Wilson. Also present were Treasurer Dave Frick, City Clerk Ken Ortman and City Attorney Chris Sherer. Alderman Gain and Alderman Gorman were absent.
B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.
C. A motion was made by Alderman Molohon and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve the agenda as Presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Grosboll, yes; Molohon, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
III. CITY CLERK
A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Molohon and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Grosboll, yes; Molohon, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
B. A motion was made by Alderman Grosboll and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the minutes of February 20, 2018 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
IV. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
A. Police Chief Coulter gave the Police Report. Officer Donovan tended his resignation to take a job as Assistant Chief at Mason City. They are currently splitting shifts to help keep overtime down.
B. Streets
Asst. Superintendent Ralph Ray gave the Street Report. They got bids on the IH 2 ton Dump Truck. There were 2 bids both the same amount. The Mayor encouraged the Council to select the bid from Richard Withers as he had been working with us the longest and seemed the most interested. A motion made by Alderman Grosboll seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to accept Richard Withers bid of $6250.00 for the IH 2 Ton Truck. VOTES: Grosboll, yes; Wilson, no; Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
Discussion of the Alley between Taylor and Rutledge, Eight and Ninth. There is a sewer main that goes down the alley to the east. By consensus the Council will keep the alley open.
C. Water
None
D. Fire
Chief Rebbe ran 20 calls for the Month of February Discussed the ladder Truck 1 was in Lincoln for repair. It has a leak on one of the outrigger solenoid. The Command Vehicle had a popping noise that was fixed by Lonny Powers.
Matt Price resigned as a Fireman. He took a job with the Taylorville Fire Department. Chief Rebbe also presented a request to add a new Fireman Kaitlyn Lehmann. She was a Fireman/EMS with the Girard Fire Department. A motion made by Alderman Wilson Seconded by Alderman Grosboll to accept Kaitlyn Lehmann as a probationary Fireman with the Petersburg Fire Department. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
V. OFFICERS’ REPORTS
A. Mayor’s Report
Discussion of the Masters Home Ordinance 2018-05. Attorney Sherer has some details to work out with the Masters Committee and then will bring it before the council.
The Council set a date for the City Wide Clean Up. A motion made by Alderman Wilson seconded by Alderman Sonemaker to hold the City Wide Pickup from May 7, 2018 to May 11, 2018. VOTES: Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
Discussion of the City’s electric Rate. A motion made by Alderman Wilson seconded by Alderman Grosboll to accept the mayor’s recommendation to accept Homefield Energy Contract for 36 months at a rate of $0.0446 for the City of Petersburg.
The Mayor mentioned the City’s retirement with the IMRF.
Talked about moving the Harvest Fest Parade up one hour to help with flow of events so there is not a lull in events.
Talked about opening some streets off of Oakland for a possible subdivision development.
B. Treasurer’s Report
Set a budget meeting for February 14 2018. They will discuss Police and Fire.

VIII. HEARING OF CITIZENS
The Mayor received an email from Jeff Hill requesting a road sign for the entrance to Petersburg honoring Trey Hild the 2018 Class A State Champ 145 pounds IHSA Wrestling. A letter will be sent to IDOT to get the sign.
IX. Old Business A question was asked about the turkey storage at the Poultry Processing Plant.
Discussed the wires going through the water tower for the radio’s.
