Report: Chester-East Lincoln spent $8,274 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Chester-East Lincoln Community Consolidated School District 61 is down 15 percent from five years ago, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Logan County school district spent $9,709 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,274 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 253 to 278.

Chester-East Lincoln's spending in 2016-17 was 36 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
