Cost of college went up for all students at Midwest Technical Institute-Springfield

Tuition and fees rose 1.9 percent for 2017-18 at Midwest Technical Institute-Springfield, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $14,672 to attend the private for-profit school this year $272 more than the $14,400 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 467 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.3 million and 470 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.2 million.

Including all undergraduates, 610 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.17 million. Another 526 took out $3.34 million in federal student loans.
