Mt Pulaski Rural Fire Protection District responded to 32 calls in 2017 - 23.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Mt Pulaski Rural included 27 fires - 17 structure fires, three vehicle fires and seven other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $54,050 in fire loss - or about $2,002 per fire.

The department also received four false calls.
