Buffalo FPD responds to 30 fires in 2017

Buffalo Fire Protection District responded to 38 calls in 2017 - 245.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Buffalo included 30 fires - seven structure fires, four vehicle fires and 19 other fires.

In all, the department saw $500 in fire loss - or about $17 per fire.

The department also received eight false calls.

The Buffalo Grove Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 55 active employees and 37 retired or inactive employees, was $1,331,651 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $147,961 for every fire in 2016.
