Divernon Fire Protection District responded to 28 calls in 2017 - 21.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Divernon included 18 fires - six structure fires, five vehicle fires and seven other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $234,350 in fire loss - or about $13,019 per fire.

The department also received nine false calls.

The Divernon Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $120,572 in 2017.
