Chatham Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 12.
Part of accident prevention involves speaking to the next generation of drivers. If we can impact them enough to change their driving habits for the better and prevent them from driving distracted, we are ALL safer on the roadways.
Last week, Officer David Leach spoke with the Glenwood High School drivers education classes about the dangers of distracted driving. We are hoping this important message sinks in.
For those unaware, we speak to the GHS drivers education classes every quarter. 3 classes each quarter, 12 altogether. We are hopeful that in the 5 years we have been giving this presentation to the students, we have prevented at least a few bad accidents. With a little luck, we may have even saved a life.
