2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in De Witt County?

There were 18 offenders released on parole during 2018 that live in De Witt County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that 15 men and three women were released in De Witt County. Of the parolees, one was a veteran, and the median age was 34. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2018, and the oldest was a 56-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Sean E. Wheeler. He was convicted of a property crime in 2015 when he was 35 years old. He is now 39.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in 2018 in each De Witt County municipality.
