Q1 2019 Recap: Parolees in Sangamon County convicted of homicide
The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for homicide, one was a veteran, and the median age was 39. The youngest parolee was a 33-year-old man sentenced in 2014, and the oldest was a 45-year-old man sentenced in 1997.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Robert B. Collingwood. He was convicted in 1997 when he was 23 years old. He is now 45.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
