City of Mount Pulaski City Council met June 11.

Present: Mayor Bobell, City Attorney, Jordan Klein, Alderman Emrick, Maxheimer, Neaville and Phillips, Director of Public Works Matt Presswood, Chief of Police Tony West, City Treasurer Tricia Aylesworth
Absent: Alderman Rentmeister, Smock Recognition of Guests:
The City Council meeting was called to order, Mayor Bobell presided. Mayor Bobell led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
A motion was made by Alderman Neaville and seconded by Alderman Maxheimer to approve the items of business under the consent agenda; Claims and accounts and the minutes from the previous meeting. All voting yea- the motion carried.
Public Comments – Agenda Items Only: Reports by Officers:
• Police Chief Tony West: There have been some issues with stray dogs that have been addressed. Keeping up on ordinance violations with yards that need to be tended to.
• Director of Public Works Matt Presswood: A tree lift has been rented and the tree list is being worked on.
The Force main extension project plans have been approve by Matt Presswood. Currently waiting on copies to be sent to the Mayor to be signed and then sent to the Canadian National Rail Road. Lee Beckman told Matt Presswood, Logan County is going to require the City to put in the casing.
• City Treasurer, Tricia Aylesworth: Deposits to date: $19,945.38. Old Business:
New Business: Mayor Bobell stated there was no business district appropriations at this time.
Mayor Bobell would like to appoint the following Alderman to committees: Water/Sewer: Emrick, Neaville, Smock
Streets/Alleys: Neaville, Phillips, Rentmeister Police: Maxheimer, Rentmeister, Smock Finance: Emrick, Phillips, Maxheimer
A motion was made by Alderman Neaville and seconded by Alderman Phillips to approve the following committee appointments. All voting yea – the motion carried.
Other Business: Mayor Bobell stated the Delta Insurance renewal is coming due. The rates are the same. Bob Brock will be at the next meeting to answer any questions.
Alderman Maxheimer asked if the City is paying for two different building inspectors. Alderman Neaville stated Howard Conrady is doing the rental inspections because he holds the license. Mayor Bobell stated Howard Conrady is under the advisement of Greg Maus.
City Treasurer, Tricia Aylesworth sent the council a letter about concerns with the reconciliations and Abbotts and Assoc. and is looking for guidance from the council. Does Tricia do what Abbotts suggests or does she double check and go by the advisement of the council? Mayor Bobell spoke with Abbotts stating he would like the accounts reconciled monthly. Alderman Emrick stated Tricia needs the supporting numbers that support the findings in a timely manner. Alderman Emrick asked who does the council want to reconcile the bank accounts to the G/L. If the treasurer takes this on then a pay raise should be given as there is a lot more involved. Mayor Bobell would like the finance committee along with Tricia Aylesworth to look over the engagements with Abbotts and Associates.
Mayor Bobell stated that after the title search with Logan County Title there is nothing showing the City is to take care of Bates Road. Mayor Bobell has spoken with Jake Collier about getting the South of the road annexed in and then a road dedication. Mayor Bobell would like the City Attorney, Jordan Klein to put together a proposal and go from there. Mayor Bobell would like the committee to discuss and see about filling in pot holes.
Mayor Bobell would like the streets/alley committee to look at the general fund, there is money that could be spent. There are summer projects that could be done with those funds other than using MFT funds.
Mayor Bobell would like the water/sewer committee to review the capital projects and make sure they’re in line financially.
Alderman Emrick attended the municipal league stating it was very informative and encourages anyone that can attend to do so.
