City of Atlanta City Council met Nov. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

OPEN: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held on Tuesday November 5, 2019 at the Atlanta City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor McVey at 7:30pm.

ROLL CALL: Colaw, Thomas, Young, Dreyer, Evans and Cheek were present.

Pledge of Allegiance

Motion by Evans second by Dreyer to approve the minutes as presented.

Motion by Evans second by Cheek to pay all bills as far as money allows.

Chief Eimer reported on a meeting he attended on the new cannabis ordinance that will need to be passed. State law is usually followed by municipalities. He will provide more information to the council. He also asked for thoughts on the new radio and computer systems for the City. Chief Eimer explained how new systems would benefit the city officers. Cost for the computer upgrade would be around $1000.00. He was not ready to switch radios due to bugs being worked out of system. Computer info would be available in the office and in the cars.

The Mayor felt that this would be the opportunity to ask Chief Eimer any questions regarding that system.

Alderman Colaw asked if this was just an update? This is a one-time cost to update the system.

Alderwoman Thomas asked if this will bring the department up to date and ability to communicate with other departments.

Randy Brooks reported the Golf Course would be closing soon. An outing is set for Nov 16th , weather permitting.

The Mayor reported that American Water will be available November 18th to answer questions with the Council members.

They would be available on Wednesday if needed as an alternate.

Tom Young had received some requests to trim trees to allow better access for farm equipment. He also felt that more mowing needs to be done along the railroad.

The Mayor reported that on October 25th filming was done by the Illinois Tourism Bureau.

Kelly Embery was nominated by 2 other employees for Lunch with the Mayor for October.

The Welcome sign out by Casey’s is finished. Keith did an excellent job on that. 

The brick flower bed was repaired on Arch St. 

Motion by Cheek second by Dreyer to adjourn the meeting.
