Analysis: Springfield pays $6.59 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Springfield Firefighter's Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 86.8 percent of the $12,885,170 the Springfield Firefighter's Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $6.59 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Springfield contributed $11,184,141 to the fund, which saw a $770,047 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $1,696,447, or 13.2 percent, in 2018. Another $4,582 came from other unspecified sources.
