City of Mount Pulaski City Council met May 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Present: Mayor Matthew Bobell, Alderman Emerick, Maxheimer, Phillips, Rentmeister and Smock, Director of Public Works Matt Presswood, City Treasurer Tricia Aylesworth, Chief of Police Tony West

Recognition of Guests: Eric Emmrich with EJ Waters

The City Council meeting was called to order, Mayor Matthew Bobell presided.

Public Comments – Agenda Items Only:

Police: Tony West stated there is a nine (9) week academy course he would like to send the part time officer to.

Water/ Sewer: Matt Presswood stated the pump for station #3 is scheduled to be here the 1st week of July. Matt has been in contact and the pump may be here by the middle of June.

Matt received an e-mail from the Justin with The Farnsworth Group stated there has been no answer from the CN railroad.

Streets/Alleys: Matt Presswood stated the MFT resolution has been sent to the state and the city is waiting on the approval to begin the MFT projects.

Financing: deposits to date: $76,981.55 - City Treasurer, Tricia Aylesworth stated the city has received a $17,200.93 rebuild IL capital grant. There will be six (6) installments over the next three (3) years.

Public Comments – Non Agenda Items:

Approval of Consent Agenda: City Clerk, Kelly Cowan read the bills as presented.

Mayor Bobell stated he is for a raise of $4.00 at the base sewer rate. The council is in agreement to raise the base rate.

Police Chief, Tony West stated he is needing the approval to spend up to $3,500.00 to send a part time officer to the academy.

Alderman Phillips stated he is going to contact Comcast again on the price of the service for the phone lines. Mayor Bobell stated this item of business will be removed from the consent agenda.

City treasurer, Tricia Aylesworth presented the budget FY 20-21.

Mayor Bobell stated he is continuing to work on the proposed ordinance change for deputy public works director. This item of business will be removed from the consent agenda.

A motion to approve the consent agenda is as follows; approval of bills, raise the sewer rate $4.00 at the base rate, approve up to $3,500.00 for the police academy and approve the budget FY 20-21 was made by Alderman Phillips and seconded by Alderman Maxheimer – Roll Call –All voting yea – the motion carried.

Miscellaneous: Eric Emmrich with EJ Waters stated with the council’s approval there will be a team sent up tomorrow to do a full assessment on the water and waste water. Matt Presswood would be assisting them answer questions.

Mayor Bobell stated the closure of the street(s) on the square for the outdoor dining is set for this Friday and Saturday. This will help get some revenue back into the businesses.
