City of Mount Pulaski City Council met June 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council meeting was called to order, Mayor Bobell presided. Mayor Bobell led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made by Alderman Smock and seconded by Alderman Emrick to approve the items of business under the consent agenda; Claims and accounts and the minutes from the previous meeting. All voting yea- the motion carried.

Public Comments – Agenda Items Only:

Reports by Officers:

• Police Chief Tony West: There have been some issues with dogs in the last few months. The department is following up with ordinance violations.

• Director of Public Works Matt Presswood: The crew is still fighting issues with lift station #3. The pump is back to pumping at half capacity. The crew will begin ditch and culvert projects when the culverts arrive. Matt is still waiting on the approval of the MFT program.

• City Treasurer, Tricia Aylesworth: Deposits to date: $2,318.65

Old Business: No update with Comcast at this time.

Mayor Bobell stated the changes have been made to the proposed ordinance change accordingly. A motion was made by Alderman Maxheimer and seconded by Alderman Smock to approve the ordinance change for deputy director or public works. Roll Call - All voting yea – the motion carried.

New Business: A grant application was turned in from the Phoenix Fire Department for fireworks. A motion was made by Alderman Smock and seconded by Alderman Maxheimer to approve the business district appropriation to the Phoenix Fire Department for $3,000.00 for fireworks. Roll call – All voting yea – the motion carried.

Mayor Bobell stated if the city is serious about selling the water/waste water system then we need to have a consultant on our side. City Attorney, Jordan Klein recommends if the city wants to maximize the dollars for contract sale then the city needs to reach out to a consultant. Jordan reached out to a consultant in Florida that was recommended to him. The Consultant could come to Mt. Pulaski and do an evaluation for a quoted price of $10,000.00. Jordan will reach out to the consultant to have a letter of engagement put together.

Other Business: Mayor Bobell stated the vacate Alderman Seat needs to be filled.

Mayor Bobell stated the Logan County Animal Control contract is due in the amount of $2,400.00. A copy via e-mail will be sent to the Alderman.

The zoning meeting is set for June 11, 2020 at 6:30 at The American Legion. Discussions on variance in regards to the 600th block of N. Marion and on zoning restrictions regarding recreational marijuana.

With no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Alderman Emrick and seconded by Alderman Maxheimer to adjourn the meeting. All voting yea—the motion carried.
