Auburn Community Unit School District 10 Board met July 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The following members answered roll call at the regular meeting of the Auburn Board of Education on July 15, 2020: Present: Fred Jessup, Carl Kessler, Brad Smith, John Megginson, Josh Smith, and Scott Norris. Present Via Zoom: Matt Kern. Also present were Darren Root, Nathan Essex, Mark Dudley, Dave Bates, Matt Grimm, and Amy Donaldson. Present: Althea Dowson, Missy Miller, Christy Bailey, Joe Petty, Ruby Howard, secretary to the board. Present Via Zoom: Erin Bidleman, Dana Bertetto, Jennifer Workman, Sarah Smith, Sandy Jones, Kim Ladage, Ken Reedy, Dawn Wheat, Melinda Marques, Gayle Staggemeyer, Sandy Parrish, Kelsie Fairfull, Ashley Lex, Suzanne Smith, and Barb Newhouse.

Norris moved to adopt the agenda. Kessler seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

Kern yea                 B. Smith yea 

Kessler yea             J. Smith yea 

Megginson yea

There being 7 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

Architect, Joe Petty presented updates on ES Playground surfacing, ES roof, and JH lighting.

Kessler moved to accept the change order presented for playground paving to stabilize base and pave under the pavilion. Megginson seconded the vote. The voting was as follows:

There being 7 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried

B. Smith moved to approve consent agenda items which consisted of:

• Approved first reading of School Board Policy - 7:40 Nonpublic School Students, Including Parochial and Home-Schooled Students

• Approved first reading of School Board Policy - 7:190 Student Behavior

• Approved first reading of School Board Policy - 7:340 Student Records

• Approved first reading of School Board Policy - 7:345 Use of Educational Technologies; Student Data Privacy and Security

• Accepted Resignation of HS Science Teacher - Jeff Smith

• Accepted Resignation of Varsity Volleyball Coach - Jeff Smith

• Employed Varsity Volleyball Coach - Amanda O'Rourke

• Set Hourly Pay for Substitute Support Staff / Bus Monitor / JH Secretary / JH Custodian

• Accepted Resignation of JH Asst Softball Coach - Sydney Thompson

• Accepted Resignation of JV Volleyball Coach - Katie Gardner

• Employed JV Volleyball Coach - AJ (Albert) Hamm

• Employed HS Science Teacher - Anna Sakash

• Employed JH Softball Coach - Shane Butler

• Employed JH Custodian - Gordon Painter

• Accepted Resignation of IT Teacher - Dave Farris

Megginson seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

Norris moved to enter closed session at 8:30 pm. Megginson seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

There being 7 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

Board came out of Closed Session at 8:40 pm.

Megginson moved to adjourn at 8:40 pm. Norris seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:
