City of Mount Pulaski City Council Met September 8

City of Mount Pulaski City Council met Sept. 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Present: Pro Tem Mayor Joyce Maxheimer, Alderman Davis, Emrick, Phillips and Rentmeister, City Attorney Jordan Klein, City Treasurer Tricia Aylesworth, Chief of Police Tony West

Absent: Mayor Matthew Bobell, Alderman Smock, Director of Public Works Matt Presswood Recognition of Guests:

The City Council meeting was called to order, Pro Tem Mayor Joyce Maxheimer presided.

Approval of Consent Agenda: City Clerk, Kelly Cowan read the bills as presented. A motion to approve the consent agenda; approval of bills and minutes was made by Alderman Rentmeister and seconded by Alderman Phillips–All voting yea – the motion carried.

Public Comments – Agenda Items Only: Report by Officers:

• Police Chief West: Tony stated there have been complaints about 700th street, the department will continue to watch this street. Brady Thomas will be doing fire training this weekend and then will do the academy. Tony has been receiving calls about spam calls and wanted to remind people not to give out any information on spam phone calls.

• Director of Public Works: Alderman Emrick read an e-mail from the Director of Public works Matt Presswood. Matt has received approval from CN Rail Road to complete the sewer force main project. The were no bids placed for the oil and chip project, Matt Presswood will rebid this project. Street patching will begin with the rental of equipment from Chestnut. The City will have this rental equipment for the month of September. Lines on the streets will continue when the supplies arrive.

• City Treasurer Tricia Aylesworth: deposits to date: $77,994.63

Old Business

New Business: Mayor Pro Tem Maxheimer stated there is no business district appropriation at this time.

Alderman Phillips stated he was approached by a school board member about the High School sidewalks and curb appeal. The board member is reaching out to see what the options are on replacing the sidewalk and curb. Mayor Pro Tem Maxheimer stated this matter of business is tabled at this time.

Alderman Emrick stated the BP gas station is wanting a Class A liquor license. A Class B liquor license is the same, the only difference is the hours of operation. A proposed liquor license ordinance change would allow more Class A license. Bishop Patel with the BP Gas station is asking to have a liquor license that will allow gaming machines onsite. There have been many changes and updates done to the gas station. There would be a limit on the number of alcoholic beverages being served while playing the games. Mayor Pro Tem Maxheimer stated there needs to be more discussion on this matter of business.

Mayor Pro Tem Maxheimer stated the minutes from July 14, 2020 will need to be amended. A motion was made by Alderman Phillips and seconded by Alderman Davis to amend the minutes from July 14, 2020.

Other Business: Lorah Hoe with the EAB requested to have EDPB Co-op Internship program proposal and Marketing update – logo on the agenda. Lorah was unable to attend the meeting. This matter of business is tabled at this time.

Pro Tem Mayor Maxheimer stated the meeting was adjourned.
