City of Mount Pulaski City Council Met September 22

City of Mount Pulaski City Council met Sept. 22.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Present: Mayor Matthew Bobell, Alderman Davis, Emrick, Maxheimer, Phillips, Rentmeister and Smock, Director of Public Works Matt Presswood, City Treasurer Tricia Aylesworth, Police Chief Tony West

Absent: City Clerk, Kelly Cowan

Recognition of Guests:

The City Council meeting was called to order, Mayor Matthew Bobell presided.

Public Comments – Agenda Items Only:

Police: Police Chief Tony West reported the department is working on ordinance issues, the stop sign at Cooke St. and Garden St. has been installed and all is going well with the schools.

Water/ Sewer: Matt Presswood stated lift station #3 parts have arrived and will get a day scheduled for installation.

Streets/Alleys: Matt Presswood stated the crew is working with patching equipment. Financing: Deposits to date: $125,124.81

Public Comments – Non Agenda Items:

Approval of Consent Agenda: The bills are read as presented. A proposed liquor license ordinance change was presented. The change will allow the sum of class A and class B licenses shall not exceed four (4) and the total number shall not exceed seven (7). The Economic development planning board seat members are Tom Martin, Erin Wyss, Deron Powell, Tyler White, Hillary Cherry, Jim Birge and Andy Meister.

A motion was made by Alderman Phillips and seconded by Alderman Rentmeister to approve the bills, proposed liquor license change and approve the Economic Development Board members listed in the consent agenda. All voting yea – the motion carried.

Miscellaneous: Lorah Hoe presented the council options to be reviewed for the city/community marketing logo, to unify one (1) image of Mt. Pulaski.

Justin Reese with the Farnsworth Group stated bids were advertised and sent out but did not receive any bids. Justin stated there are two (2) options for the city, one is getting a quote which has to be less than $25,000 or submit MMES and the other is de obligate the funds and roll over to next year to bidding the project out in January or February to start May 1.

Justin Reese stated the city is waiting on the EPA approval for the completion of the sewer force main project and to go ahead and bid in the next couple of weeks.

At the advisement of the City Attorney, Jordan Klein a new water sewer sale committee will be formed. This committee will do due diligence to consider all options in terms of needed improvements. The committee will include members of the council, and members of the public. Alderman Smock and Emrick have been asked to join since they are on the water/sewer committee. Mayor Bobell will ask members of the public to join.

Mayor Bobell stated the meeting was adjourned.
