Village of Chatham Fire & Police Commission met Dec. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

A. Call to Order

Chairperson Diane Vanderkooy called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm.

3. Roll Call

A motion was made by Chairperson Vanderkooy to allow Commissioner Jared Koester to attend the meeting via telephone due to conflicts with his work schedule. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Wood. By a voice vote of the members present, the motion passed.

Absent: No one

Others Present: Chief of Police Vern Foli; Village Attorney Greg Moredock; Village Clerk Dan Holden; Village Manager Pat McCarthy; Village President Dave Kimsey

B. Consent Agenda

1. Approve Minutes from the Fire and Police Commission Nov. 17th, 2021 Meeting

A motion was made by Commissioner Wood to place the Consent Agenda on the table for discussion. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Koester. By a voice vote of the members present, the motion passed.

There was no Old Business to discuss

D. New Business

1. Public Comments Village Business

Village President Kimsey thanked the Commissioner's for the work that they do for the Village of Chatham.

2. Applicant review

Police Chief Vern Foli provided an update on the background check of an applicant for a position with the Chatham Village Police. This person was the next name on the list created previously by the Police Commission. If accepted, the plan would be to get this candidate into the next class at the Illinois Police Academy in January 2022. After general discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Wood to accept the application of the candidate. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Koester. By a voice vote of the members present, the motion passed.

F. Closed Session

There was no need for Closed Session.

A motion was made by Commissioner Koester to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wood. By a voice vote of the members present, the motion passed, and the meeting adjourned at 5:43 pm.
