State Rep. Tim Butler (R-Sangamon) celebrated joining the Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee.
Butler revealed the news in a recent Facebook post.
"Thank you to the PCs across the 13th congressional district for the resounding victory this week to become the Illinois Republican Party State Central committeeman from the 13th," he said. "I'm looking forward to working with state Rep. Amy Elik (R-Alton) as the deputy State Central committeewoman as we help drive our party forward."
Butler was recently selected in the Republican primary to serve the people of the new 95th District, according to Journal Star. He beat challenger Kent Gray with a total of 7,393 votes, or 73.6% of all votes counted.
He recently applauded a Sangamon County deputy who saved two elderly people from a burning building, Sangamon Sun reported.
Butler jumped into action and removed his yard signs after the June 28 election, according to another Sangamon Sun article.
"Win or lose, responsible campaigns get their signs down quickly after the election,” he said on Facebook. "We've been out collecting our signs across the #New95th."
