Illinois state Sen. Sally Turner (R-Beason) wants to give her constituents a chance to talk about issues impacting the district, so she's hosting a few events for voters to have their voices heard.
In a Sept. 15 Facebook post, Turner announced she'd be hosting several "Coffee and Conversation" gatherings in the upcoming week.
"Next week I will be hosting three separate Coffee and Conversation events to give constituents an opportunity to meet with me in a casual setting to discuss governmental issues important to them," she wrote in the post. "On Tuesday, I will have back-to-back events in Latham and Chestnut. Later in the week, I will be hosting an event in Illiopolis with Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell. I hope to see you there!"
Turner was first elected to the state Senate in 2021. According to the Senate website, Turner serves on the Ethics and State Higher Education Committees.
In June, she was named The Illinois Chamber of Commerce's "Outstanding Freshman of the Year." In a statement, Turner said she was "humbled" to receive the honor for her "commitment to supporting policies that strengthen our economy and create jobs." She added that she felt it was important for the state to help struggling small businesses with supportive legislation.
Back in July, Turner congratulated the Honorable Lisa Holder White who was sworn in as a state Supreme Court Justice.
