Rodriguez Named OVC Newcomer of the Week
SIUE women's basketball senior KK Rodriguez (St. Louis, Missouri) has been selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week following her performance last week at the Husky Classic.
Rodriguez paced the Cougars with a career-high 19 points vs. Liberty on Dec. 19, shooting 4-11 from the field and 11-12 at the free throw line. Her 11 made free throws marked a new career best. Rodriguez also led SIUE with five rebounds and four assists.
The following day at Washington, she added six points while dishing out four assists. She was 2-6 from the field and knocked down both of her free throw attempts.
Rodriguez leads the Cougars and is ranked ninth in the OVC averaging 2.9 assists per contest.
This is Rodriguez's first conference-level award of her career and the Cougars' second individual award of the 2022-23 season.
SIUE begins its nonconference schedule Thursday against Tennessee Tech at First Community Arena.
