Q4 2021 Recap: 3 parolees from Sangamon County convicted of financial crimes or fraud set for release

There were three offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud living in Sangamon County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Sangamon Sun.

The data shows one man and two women were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for financial crimes or fraud was 31. The youngest parolee was a 29-year-old woman sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 37-year-old woman sentenced in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Mitchell L. Wells. He was convicted in 2022 when he was 30 years old. He is now 31.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
