Village of Illiopolis Board of Trustees met Oct. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Rogers called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. 

A roll call was taken, all members were present except D Koonce and R Reed.  

Agenda 

The agenda was adopted as presented.  

Minutes 

J DeVore made a motion to approve the October 2, 2023 meeting minutes seconded by S McIntyre, all ayes  Motion carried 4-0-0.  

Visitors 

Valerie Ausmus was there to present the auditor’s report. She discussed the general fund,  motor fuel tax fund, TIF fund, and water and sewer. She passed out a draft of the audit, asked  the board members to review it and to contact her with any questions.  

Jim McDaniles was present to discuss the street sweeping. He stated that the curbs are done. S  McIntyre Asked about getting the mud out of the curbs and stated that her street looks the  same. The street sweeper went down north and south and the streets are still dirty. J Mc  Daniles stated that they are not done with the streets, with the broom and suction. They are  getting the loose stuff. J McDaniles was getting frustrated and switched the subject about the  street sweeping and said they ask for tools and never get them and he said they need a floor  jack, they had to use his jack and a tractor to pick up a truck Mayor Rogers asked for a motion  to purchase a floor jack, not to exceed $400. J Devore made that motion with S McIntyre  seconding, roll call vote was taken all ayes motion carried 4-0-0. J McDaniles stated that there  was a credit and they ordered the culvert for Matilda Street. He also stated that the street  sweeping is going to work and the pans are clean except for Elizabeth Street. S McIntyre said  that the guys cleaning the pans is double the work. J McDaniles said that the street sweeping is  saving labor. He also said it is working in some areas. He said that he shoveled the south side  and the street sweeper is to finish. The street sweeper cannot get it all. Mayor Rogers stated  that the grass near 4th and Elizabeth and 1st and Elizabeth is taking over the road. J McDaniles  will look into it.  

 Open Forum 

Treasurer’s Report 

C Mitchell was present to give a report on the check detail, water, sewer and checking. She  gave a report on the profit and loss from May through September. She also said that she will be  looking into Hickory Point Bank for a 3% money market account. M Pevler made a motion to  approve the treasurer’s report as presented, seconded by S McIntyre all ayes motion carried.  4-0-0.

New Business 

M Pevler made a motion to approve the aggregate extension for the tax levy in the amount of $28,342 with S McIntyre seconding, roll call vote was taken all ayes motion carried 4-0-0. J DeVore made a motion to approve Resolution 2023-13 for authorizing execution of garbage contract  with GFL Environmental with M Pevler seconding, roll call vote was taken all ayes motion carried 4-0-0. S McIntyre made a motion to approve the donation of $50 and sponsorship for the Community  Halloween Party with B Honea seconding, roll call vote was taken all ayes motion carried 4-0-0. 

Dilapidated Property 

Mayor Rogers stated that the property at 217 N. Dye Road is being cleaned up. 

Comments 

Mayor Rogers spoke about the garbage ordinance, asked the Board to review it and it will be discussed  at the next meeting.  

M Peevler made a motion to adjourn at 7:09 pm with S McIntyre seconding. All ayes 4-0-0
