Arthur Community Unit School District #305 Board of Education met Nov. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Arthur Board of Education was called to order by President Beth Wiley at 6:00 pm on November 15, 2023 in the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School Cafeteria with the following members in attendance: Suzi Berkich, Monica Green, Ryan Nettles, and Beth Wiley. Mr. Shannon Cheek and administrators were also present. Kristie Mechling arrived at 6:06 pm.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

During recognition of visitors, Mrs. Renee Brown, District Librarian, presented the board with information regarding the activities happening in the schools regarding reading and donations of books.

A motion was made by Suzi Berkich, seconded by Ryan Nettles to approve the consent agenda as presented which included: the Minutes of the October 18th, 2023 meeting, bills of $815,744.04, the Treasurer's Report, first reading of Press Policy 113, and donations. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Suzi Berkich, seconded by Monica Green to approve the tentative tax levy as presented. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Kristie Mechling to approve the BLDD agreement for professional services as presented. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Suzi Berkich to approve a bid for renovations of bathrooms at AGS and LGS as presented. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

The board discussed the IASB resolutions for the upcoming IASB Convention.

Principal Reports were presented. See attached.

Superintendent's Report was presented. See attached.

During Board Comment, Beth Wiley stated the Veterans' Day assemblies at the schools were great and it was nice to see all the community members present.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Monica Green to go into closed session at 6:50 pm under the Open Meetings Act for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1). Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Monica Green to leave executive session at 7:35 pm. Upon roll, all present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Suzi Berkich to accept executive session minutes as read in executive session. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Monica Green to approve the personnel report as presented which includes: accepting the resignation from Lisa Hood, accepting the resignation from Emily Mills, approving Hannah Morfey as a volunteer HS Assistant Girls Basketball coach, approving Megan Fifer as a volunteer HS Assistant Girls Basketball coach. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Monica Green to adjourn at 7:48 pm. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.
