City of Petersburg City Council met Dec. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER 

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:05 p.m. 

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS 

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Heidi Hiser, Tia Baugher, Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney Jason Brokaw and. Andrew Gain and Bruce Gorman were absent. 

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. 

C. A motion was made by Alderman Allison and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the agenda as presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

III. CITY CLERK 

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Allison and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

B. A motion was made by Alderman Sonnemaker and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the minutes of December 5, 2023 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

C. A motion made by Alderman Allison seconded by Alderman Hiser to approve the December 5, 2023 Regular Meeting Executive Session Minutes. VOTES: Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Hiser, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

IV. HEARING OF CITIZENS 

None 

V. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 

A. Water 

1. Collector's Report - Water Collector Georgia Ed gave the 

Report for November 2023. A motion made by Alderman Allison seconded by Alderman Hiser to approve the Water Collector's Report, Adjustments and Payment Agreements as presented. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

2. Meter Costs Georgia said that a lot of plumbers and other 

Cities are coming to Petersburg to purchase misc. parts or meter connections when they can't get them from their supplier. By consensus of the Council, the City will stop selling parts to plumbers and other Cities that are not going to be used as part of a new install in the City of Petersburg. 

3. Superintendent's Report Water Superintendent Korrie Davis gave the Report for November 2023. 

B. Street 

1. Street Superintendent's Report - Street Superintendent Brian Whitehurst gave the Report for November 2023. 

2. Crosswalks and School Bus Issue Discussion on putting in Crosswalks at the Elementary School intersections. Discussion on bus parking at the Elementary School. A question asked by the Bus Committee is the extend the deadline for creating a plan to move the buses to Monroe by January 8th to January 16th. By consensus the Council will extend the deadline for providing a plan to move the buses to Monroe Street to January 16th. 

C. Zoning

None 

VI. OFFICERS' REPORTS 

A. Mayor's Report 

1. JayCee Park Bid - Discussion on the playground equipment for the JayCee Park. A motion made by Alderman Soneemaker seconded by Alderman Baugher to approve the Contract with Play Illinois for the Playground Equipment and Installation Contracts totaling $352,386.40 with TCWC making up the difference of $5676.40 between the bid and the actual grang amount of $346,710.00. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

B. Treasurer 

1. Treasurer's Report - Treasurer David Frick gave the Treasurer's Report for November 2023. A motion made by Alderman Allison seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the Treasurer's Report for November 2023. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

A motion was made by Alderman Allison and seconded by Alderman Baugher to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Meeting Adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
