City of Petersburg City Council met Feb. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER 

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. 

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS 

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Heidi Hiser, Tia Baugher, Andrew Gain, Bruce Gorman, Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney Sam Bobar. 

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. 

C. A motion was made was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the agenda as presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

III. CITY CLERK 

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Gain to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the minutes of January 16, 2024 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Gain, abstain; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

III. HEARING OF CITIZENS 

A. Jill Gum read a comment on the issue of bus parking at the Petersburg Elementary School. 

V. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 

A. Police 

1. Department Monthly Report Chief Mike Nichols gave the 

Police Department's Report for the Month of January 2024. 

B. Fire 

1. Department Monthly Report 

Chief Pat Rebbe gave the Fire Department's Report for the Month of January 2024. 

C. Zoning 

1. Zoning Administrator Duey Blair discussed TIF District procedures and upcoming applications. 

VI. OFFICERS' REPORTS 

A. Mayor's Report 

1. 911 Generator Costs. The Mayor discussed the cost for the generator at the 911 building at the SW Water Tower. They are asking the City to contribute $3,000.00 towards the $14,000.00 cost. A motion made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Allison to pay the $3,000.00 asked for by the 911 board. VOTES: Baugher, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes, Hiser, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

2. Chairman for Mayor's Vacation Mayor will be out of town Feb 13 to March 18 and a Chairman for the Council Meetings needs to be chosen. A motion made by Alderman Sonnemaker seconded by Alderman Gorman to appoint Alderman Andrew Gain at Chairman for that time period. VOTES: Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

3. Garage Door for the Street Department. Mayor Snyder is asking to use TIF money to repair the first door at the street department. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to use 8,100.00 in TIF money to repair the Street Department's first garage door. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Gain, Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to adjourn the meeting. 

VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
