State Representative Mike Coffey has emphasized his commitment to supporting working families in Illinois through various legislative efforts. In a recent statement, Coffey highlighted his advocacy for commonsense solutions aimed at lowering taxes and reducing the cost of living.

"I have fought for commonsense solutions like lowering taxes and reducing the cost of living for working families," Coffey stated. He noted his support for legislation that cuts taxes on gas and groceries, reduces energy costs, and promotes economic growth to attract job creators back to Illinois.

Coffey stressed the importance of ensuring that Illinois residents receive better outcomes for their hard-earned money. "By supporting legislation to improve our communities, I am fighting for Illinois families and our values," he said. He also expressed his dedication to building a safer and more affordable state while holding the government accountable.

As a self-described watchdog for taxpayers and consumers, Coffey has sponsored legislation aimed at cutting gas and grocery taxes. He has also been active in opposing income tax hikes and advocating for healthcare relief, particularly concerning prescription prices for insulin and epi-pens.

Coffey supports an inclusive energy policy that emphasizes high-energy sources such as coal, nuclear, and natural gas while also backing renewable energy initiatives like ethanol. He criticized extreme policies that he believes are driving out high-capacity power plants, increasing energy costs, and jeopardizing reliability.

Businesses leaving Illinois due to high taxes, unnecessary regulations, and corruption is another concern Coffey addressed. As a small businessman himself, he advocates for policies designed to make Illinois a more favorable environment for starting businesses and creating jobs.
