Ball-Chatham Community Unified School District 5 Policy Committee met July 17

The committee continued the process of the 5-year review of all Board policies.  Policies discussed at this meeting were in response to the PRESS 115 update.  Any policy with a change will be added to the July 24, 2024 Board agenda for a first reading.

Press 115 Packet Updates:

2:070 - Vacancies on the School Board - Filling Vacancies - Spacing fix and word “or” added.

2:125 - Board Member Compensation; Expenses - Footnotes updated.

2:160 - Board Attorney - Reviewed

4:015 - Identity Protection - Cross Reference added

4:040 - Incurring Debt  - References reordered and one cross-reference removed

4:070 - Resource Conservation - Wording to 3c updated and legal reference updated

4:080 - Accounting and Audits - Dollar amount updated to $1000.00, wording correction and legal reference spelling change.

4:140 - Waiver of Student Fees - Period removed

5:170 - Responsibilities Concerning Internal Information - Legal References corrected and one Cross Reference added

5:180 - Temporary Illness or Temporary Incapacity - Wording on paragraph 3 updated, missing sentence added, legal references added

5:285 - Drug and Alcohol Testing for School Bus and Commercial Vehicle Drivers  - Aligned to PRESS version and sentence added pertaining to drug/alcohol testing in the event of an accident.

5:310 - Compensatory Time-Off - Aligned to PRESS policy and ESP contract langauge

6:110 - Programs for Students At Risk of Academic Failure and/or Dropping Out of School and Graduation Incentives Program - Updates to footnotes.

6:140 - Education of Homeless Children - Updates to legal references and cross-references

6:150 - Home and Hospital Instruction - Word abbreviated

6:230 - Library Media Program - Extra numbered bullet removed

7:170 - Vandalism - Aligned to PRESS policy

6:010 - Educational Philosophy and Objectives - “or designee” removed, paragraph created and list changes from letter bullets to number bullets.

6:020 - School Year Calendar and Day - 174 changed to 176, legal reference corrected, cross reference added

6:040 - Curriculum Development - “or designee” removed, “may” changed to “shall”, legal reference corrected, cross reference added

6:064 - Curriculum Physical Education - This policy will be retired.  It does not match the current ISBE requirements and content in the GHS course book.

6:065 - Student Social and Emotional Development  - legal references reordered, cross reference added
