The Illinois College men's soccer team secured its third consecutive victory by defeating Fontbonne 3-0 in their home opener on Tuesday at England Stadium.

This win improved the Blueboys' season record to 4-1, while the Griffins fell to 0-4.

The game remained close throughout the first half until Nate Kapitz broke the deadlock with a goal at the 44:36 mark. The Blueboys maintained their one-goal lead for most of the second half until Jives Efemini scored at the 83:12 mark, assisted by Reed Rogers. Tyler Lunning added a header goal at 89:24 to close out the scoring.

Owen Macias was effective in goal, saving all three shots he faced as the IC defense consistently thwarted Fontbonne's offensive efforts. The Blueboys outshot Fontbonne 20-3.

Efemini led the IC offense with five shots, while Oscar Liogon Arenas contributed three and Toby Ybarra had two.

Next, Illinois College will travel to Webster for a match on Thursday with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
