Illinois College women's soccer remains unbeaten with victory over Great Lakes Christian College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's soccer team remained unbeaten on the season with a 2-0 victory over Great Lakes Christian College in a non-conference match on Thursday at England Stadium.

With the victory, Illinois College moved to 4-0-1 on the season while Great Lakes Christian College fell to 3-1-3.

The Lady Blues scored once in each half to secure the win. IC's first goal came from Haley Sommer, who blasted a shot in for her team-leading fourth goal of the season at the 2:55 mark of the first half. Sommer was assisted by Holly Morehart.

Darian Blackburn added an insurance goal for the Lady Blues in the second half when she scored off a feed from Olivia Ralston at the 56:08 mark.

Illinois College outshot the Crusaders, 12-5. Sommer led the Lady Blues with six shots while Erin O'Connell added two.

Stella Gonzalez went the distance in goal for Illinois College, stopping three shots.

The Lady Blues are back on the pitch at England Stadium on Saturday when Buena Vista comes to town for a non-conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
